Ítem Solo Metadatos Clima ético corporativo: una aplicación del modelo de Víctor y Cullen en las empresas del estado de Sao Paulo(Universidad ESAN. ESAN Ediciones, 2005-12-30) Ferrato, Elio; Arruda, María Cecilia Coutinho deVictor and Cullen (1988) developed an empirical survey in order to measure the ethical climate in the organizational bases of 872 employees of four North-American companies. Based on some of the parameters pointed out by these authors, this study had the objective of analyzing ethical corporate climates in nine Brazilian organizations, located in the São Paulo State, Brazil, involving 2573 employees. The Brazilian survey suggested the existence of distinct types of ethical climate and a differentiation in function of norms spread out by the board of directors in the organizations. It was not the purpose to establish a theory about ethical climate, as done by Victor and Cullen, nevertheless, implications of ethical corporate climate in organization theories have been discussed.Ítem Solo Metadatos Coppermine: riesgos de la no concentración(Universidad ESAN. ESAN Ediciones, 2005-12-30) Jáuregui, Kety; Centeno, Adolfo; Solano, DavidMajor greenfield mining projects are usually surrounded by conflict between the mining company and neighboring communities caused as much by the operator’s mistakes as by anti-mining coalitions and other organized groups rallied around sustainable development issues. For four years while preparation work was underway the mining company put into practice several strategies aimed at addressing claims, including participatory workshops all the way to hiring anexpatriate professional expert charged with addressing environmental issues. A few months before the beginning of mine operations however tension peaked. A multi-sector technical commission was set up including government, residents and company representatives. The technical committee has already issued its report on the issue, including recommendations to keep a watchful eye on the company’s operations. In view of such developments, Coppermine must reframe its policies and strategies.Ítem Solo Metadatos La definición de "responsabilidad social empresaria" como tarea filosófica(Universidad ESAN. ESAN Ediciones, 2005-12-30) Preziosa, María MartaThis study is a metaphysical essay defining Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), through a series of Business Ethics texts covering the subject. The selected texts are written by Argentinean and Spanish authors rooted in the Social Teaching of the Church. The objective is to search the foundation of CSR as a moral obligation. The study begins with a logical approach, followed by a metaphysical one before engaging in ethical aspects. The meaning of «responsibility» and «CSR» concepts are defined. Regarding the concept’s metaphysical approach, the study is framed under Aristotelian categories of relationship and quality. From an ethical point of view, CSR is understood as a component of justice as virtue, and what specifically characterizes it is the acknowledgement of one’s own concurrence in the growth and development of the company’s relationship with its stakeholders. The question is posed whether the company, as such, acts in a moral manner –parallel to personal moral agency—. A delimitation of CSR actions is proposed.Ítem Solo Metadatos La empresa socialmente responsable: una propuesta de autoevaluación(Universidad ESAN. ESAN Ediciones, 2005-12-30) Alcabés, NissimThe author proposes that corporations should self-evaluate the degree to which their performance towards their personnel, society and the nation is rated as socially responsible. He suggests 10 self-evaluation variables and a final overarching criterion. Quoting professor Sumantra Ghoshal, the author points to the need to review theoretical concepts that may have somehow dehumanized corporate management.Ítem Solo Metadatos Las empresas ante su desafío histórico: de la acumulación egoísta a la responsabilidad social(Universidad ESAN. ESAN Ediciones, 2005-12-30) Dejo, FedericoWhen the first productive organizations of the pre-industrial era appeared, man noticed that the development of these organizations had a negative impact, especially in terms of labor exploitation. However, man also foresaw the positive impacts: wealth and diversity of goods and products. This led later on, to the discussion of which role the companies must play inthe development of society. Socialist movements and subsequent revolutions tried to eradicate labor exploitation within the corporate world. But socialism’s failure to eliminate social injustice only strengthened the capitalist model. The manner in which most companies perform their activities, based solely on profit, threatens to eradicate not only wage earners, but theplanet it self. As a response to this, the concept of Socially Responsible Companies (SRC),emerging with great strength in the past decade, constitutes a rational and viable alternative in order to achieve a sustainable, desirable and necessary type of development.Ítem Solo Metadatos Integración de la ética en la gestión de las personas y los medios para lograr la sostenibilidad del cambio(Universidad ESAN. ESAN Ediciones, 2005-12-30) Pou Munt, GuillermoEthics is a key concept in management, yet it’s meaning is reduced to signify just good will. Ethics must be an important part of management, as companies should take actions based on objective and conclusive principles. Activities related to ethics should be included in all areas of the company. This is an important omission not only because decisions and actions must be guided by sound and objective principles but also because of the multiple benefits deriving from sustained and consistent work aimed at including ethics as a field of management activities and which therefore deserves management’s time and aimed at including ethics in all areas of people management within organizations. This paper will address elements and criteria on how to include ethics in company management from a general perspective and how this can add social value to communities.Ítem Solo Metadatos Integridad: respuesta superadora a los dilemas éticos del hombre de empresa(Universidad ESAN. ESAN Ediciones, 2005-12-30) Paladino, Marcelo; Debeljuh, Patricia; Del Bosco, PaolaThe various scandals that have shaken the corporate world have shown the need to analyze once again the ethic foundations of the corporation. It is not enough to issue a simple negative judgment; we must learn from failure and reflect on its causes. Why didn’t these companies fulfill theirmissions? What happened to their fundamental values? What happened to the personal convictionsof their general managers, with their vision of the future, with their contributions for the country and the community? Experience shows that it is not enough to merely propose worthy goals, guiding values or policies in favor of the environment and the community. It is necessary that all these propositions originate in the personal convictions of each individual, so that each actionwill have a distinctive, personal mark. Integrity must be found in the center of each individual and corporation. This paper presents integrity as a superior concept amongst the values and virtues which are normally mentioned; it implies that management must adopt the enabling attitudes andabilities they need to carry out their work properly.Ítem Solo Metadatos Matemáticas en el Perú: un caso de responsabilidad social(Universidad ESAN. Shortly after, the program, Math for Everyone, seeks to increase its coverage and leaps to a virtual format, with an interactive proposal geared towards fun and games in order to catch the child and teenager’s attention.Ítem Solo Metadatos Una misión educativa(Universidad ESAN. ESAN Ediciones, 2005-12-30) Brown, OfeliaThis case study describes an initiative by a computer engineer to develop an innovative teaching method. ESAN Ediciones, 2005-12-30) Morán, María RosaThis case study poses the problem of a mining company and their activities in the Ancash Department. Despite the vast quantity of natural and cultural resources in the region, the communities are not developed, lacking government services and access routes. ESAN Ediciones, 2005-12-30) Rodríguez, Alfredo; Aguilera, Juan CarlosIn many corporations, the importance of ethics does not go further than just good intentions. Philosopher Josef Pieper warned about this situation when he wrote about prudence, a virtue that is at the basis of outstanding management and thus, also of company ethics and corporate social responsibility, an issue included in the problem as there are many ways to understand its significance. However, before any consideration on the importance of company–social relationships or on the values and moral actions of organizations, we must bear in mind that the type of corporation depends on the type of individual we represent in our minds. Without an anthropological vision it is not possible to ascertain the actions of people in the corporation or their attitudes towards its goals. Our work will try to contribute a proposal in which the corporation is explained and organized from the point of view of the people.Ítem Solo Metadatos Las prácticas de "doble rol" en los gobiernos corporativos de empresas chilenas(Universidad ESAN. ESAN Ediciones, 2005-12-30) De la Vega, OrlandoThis project is an exploratory investigation on the mal practices of corporate government associated with the «double role» that some shareholders assume in a private or public company (totally orpartially state-owned). We will try to discover the various generic forms that these mal practices adopt, as well as explore the positive or negative perceptions that they generate on the Chilean corporate or institutional shareholders. Next, we will examine various alternatives to confrontthem (by reducing their occurrence or eliminating them) in order to improve the practices of corporate government in Chile.Ítem Solo Metadatos Responsabilidad social corporativa: qué se hace y qué debe hacerse(Universidad ESAN. ESAN Ediciones, 2005-12-30) Solano, DavidCorporate Social Responsibility has caught the attention of the business community worldwide because consumer and capital markets now champion or punish a company for its relationship with its environment. But this approach is still new and has several defects: it’s reactive, excessively focused on mass media, it’s not specialized, it confuses Public Relations with Social Responsibility, etc. This shows not only little knowledge of the basic concepts but also of the main reason underlying any Social Responsibility process: a sustainable improvement in the relationship with the population as a foundation for sustainable development. In order to achieve this it is necessary to have clear objectives, an clear definition of the target audience, and well designed action plans. Only then will we be able to assess the success or failure of our intervention.Ítem Solo Metadatos Willoq: un caso de turismo vivencial(Universidad ESAN. ESAN Ediciones, 2005-12-30) Abarca, AlfredoThe Willoq community and Peruvian Odyssey have joined efforts in order to bring the everyday life of the high Andean communities in the area of Ollantaytambo closer to tourists. This is known as «existential tourism», and has as a basic premise the preservation of the Andean Man’s customs and traditions. Perhaps the magic and charm experienced by those who visit the Willoq community resides in the vast and diverse landscape in front of them, as well as in the various cultural manifestations that are so different to theirs in terms of: organization, economy, religion, and a sustainable interaction through time with the environment. But we can also see the crude reality and difficulties of the Willoq community, as well as the illusion and hope with which they view an ever more globalized world.
