We consider mobile commerce as a subset of electronic commerce in which transactions are made using a mobile terminal and a wireless network. The user of mobile equipment and its requirements play a role in the development of mobile commerce in addition to technological development and the development of regulatory frameworks. This document addresses the requirements for mobile commerce in addition to technological development and the development of regulatory frameworks. This document addresses the requirements for mobile commerce in a systematic way. First it establishes the mobile commerce scenario by reviewing basic concepts and requirements. Then it introduces a previously published metamodel that consists of four areas of interest: regulatory frameworks business models global infrastructure and support technologies. The requirements for mobile commerce are grouped by these areas and are analysed in this context. The emphasis is on those requirements that must persist. It is shown that many of them originate in a sphere and then propagate to another sphere so that they often take a more concrete form. The sphere of support technologies refers to the future technologies that are being developed now to respond to the requirements that arise in the future.
