Abstract

Case study in the logistics area of a large mining company. A professional who has worked for several years in the area of the company describes the main deficiencies of the system that underlie the daily problems. After some years away from the company, he returns as a consultant and finds that the company is in the process of privatization and must optimize its administrative and management systems in order to reduce costs and facilitate the transfer process. In this time, the problems that he had identified had been solved in part, and some elements of the environment had changed. A section of annexes is included that contains the description of the logistics system, the proposed replacement model and the way in which the Purchasing department is organized.

Estudio de caso en el área de logística de una gran empresa minera. Un profesional que trabaja desde hace varios años en el área de la empresa describe las principales deficiencias del sistema que subyacen a los problemas cotidianos. Luego de algunos años alejado de la empresa, regresa como consultor y descubre que la empresa está en proceso de privatización y debe optimizar sus sistemas administrativos y de gestión para reducir costos y facilitar el proceso de transferencia. En este tiempo, los problemas que había identificado se habían solucionado en parte y algunos elementos del entorno habían cambiado. Se incluye un apartado de anexos que contiene la descripción del sistema logístico, el modelo de sustitución propuesto y la forma en que se organiza el departamento de Compras.
