¡Pongan de cabeza a ese santo!
(Universidad ESAN. ESAN Ediciones, 1997-12-30) Bouroncle Caro, Antonio; Ampuero Cárdenas, Ada
It is a case study on the creation, growth and transformation of a medical center into a clinic. Its trajectory follows the rhythm of the country's economic situation, it opens new services when demand increases, which it finances with contributions from new partners and then with loans. When you go through an economic situation that can turn into insolvency, not all partners agree on the causes. Likewise, important changes in the market, such as the creation of new health service organizations and the entry of other competitors, generate solution proposals. Among others, the adoption of a total quality system is accepted. Ten months after its implementation, the situation does not improve and opinions on the effects of the program are divided. An advisor points out that the clinic's problem is financial. The case describes problems in the operation of the clinic and includes an annex section containing the financial statements for the last three years and information on bed occupancy.

Inversión en capital humano: la percepción de los directivos de empresa
(Universidad ESAN. ESAN Ediciones, 1992-09-30) Vera, José Carlos
Research dedicated to prevention in health matters, specifically that related to the worker in the company and that related to the care of the mother and the child in the framework of family planning. In-depth interviews and surveys were applied to the general, administrative and financial managers of a sample of representative companies of their sector that had a considerable female population. It was sought to determine the perception of managers regarding social benefits, health prevention, family planning and the current offer of prevention services. An attempt was also made to evaluate the current situation of preventive health services in companies. Among other findings, it is found that managers do not have internalized the concept of prevention as a way to avoid the deterioration of the health of workers and, therefore, to increase their productivity. Regarding family planning, they do not conceive it as a form of prevention nor do they manage to clearly establish the relationship between income, nutrition and good health. They are more interested in disease prevention than in well-child control, gynecological control, pregnancy and childbirth.

Sistemas de salud y subsidios a los pobres: un modelo de financiamiento de salud para el Perú
(Universidad ESAN. ESAN Ediciones, 2004-06-30) Vera, José Carlos
This research develops a financing model for public health services that establishes the health expenditure per person that the State would have to pay according to the package of services it wishes to offer and the population it decides to subsidize. With this objective, it proposes a health insurance system for the entire population, in which the State contributes all or part of the value of the corresponding premiums to the population with the fewest resources, thus replacing the subsidy to the offer —which it currently provides— by the subsidy to the demand, which means freedom of choice of the user as regards both the insurance entity and the service provider. The actuarial financial analysis is used for the necessary calculations, which is based on an analysis of the health situation and the transactions of services in the market in terms of their financial consequences. One of its main findings is to confirm that the problem of health in Peru is not the lack of resources, but the way in which the health sector and the subsidy system have been structured.
