Ítem Solo Metadatos Maxión S.A.(Universidad ESAN. ESAN Ediciones, 1995-06-30) Fossati Figueiredo, Kleber; Barcellos, FernandoMaxion S.A. is a company that has been operating in Brazil since 1962, specialized in the production of agricultural machinery and engines, products in which it has a market share of 40% and 25% respectively. It is in the group of well-positioned manufacturers, with its turnover of 40% in the foreign market in 1989. However, the increase in agricultural productivity led to a reduction in the demand for agricultural machinery. Following this unfavorable scenario, the company made the strategic decision to transform its production process into a competitive factor through the implementation of the Just-in-Time (JIT) system. The present case starts with the background of the JIT system, then the procedures adopted by the company are described, from the training on the meaning of the system to the development of suppliers. Finally, the results before and after the first stage of implementation are given along with quantitative indicators and qualitative considerations regarding the evaluation of the experience.Ítem Solo Metadatos Disonancias entre el entorno local de los negocios y la cultura corporativa en un país latinoamericano(Universidad ESAN. ESAN Ediciones, 1995-12-30) Berlin, MargalitThe article analyzes the relationship between the corporate culture of a multinational company headquartered in the United States, which enjoys great prestige worldwide, and the business environment and practices in Venezuela, where it has an operation. The prevailing culture in the corporation is North American and the top managers come from their country of origin. In Venezuela, on the other hand, most of the companies are family-owned, and personal contacts and influences prevail. The research is oriented to the elaboration of a qualitative diagnosis, through rigorous observation and semi-structured interviews. The results revealed that there is resistance on the part of Venezuelan managers to follow the culture of a strict company governed by rules set in a very different economic and political context. The ambiguity between acceptance and low identification with the values of the parent company leads to think of corporate culture as fragmented.Ítem Solo Metadatos Trabajo y familia: hacia una cultura familiar amigable en el contexto latinoamericano(Universidad ESAN. ESAN Ediciones, 2004-06-30) Debeljuh, Patricia; Jáuregui, KetyThe balance of work and family is the daily struggle of every person who must satisfy the often-conflicting demands of both spheres of his life. The absence of effective solutions to this problem not only affects the family but also companies through work absenteeism, low productivity, increased stress, among other effects. The working conditions of the future will have to resolve the tensions between old paradigms and new realities and create a culture that reflects the characteristics of the current workforce. To the extent that companies recognize and respond to the family needs of their employees, they will develop strategies to harmonize work and family life. The present study reviews these strategies and their gradual implementation, whose last stage is the creation of a friendly family corporate culture, the only area in which employees can achieve a work-personal balance.Ítem Solo Metadatos Integridad: respuesta superadora a los dilemas éticos del hombre de empresa(Universidad ESAN. ESAN Ediciones, 2005-12-30) Paladino, Marcelo; Debeljuh, Patricia; Del Bosco, PaolaThe various scandals that have shaken the corporate world have shown the need to analyze once again the ethic foundations of the corporation. It is not enough to issue a simple negative judgment; we must learn from failure and reflect on its causes. Why didn’t these companies fulfill theirmissions? What happened to their fundamental values? What happened to the personal convictionsof their general managers, with their vision of the future, with their contributions for the country and the community? Experience shows that it is not enough to merely propose worthy goals, guiding values or policies in favor of the environment and the community. It is necessary that all these propositions originate in the personal convictions of each individual, so that each actionwill have a distinctive, personal mark. Integrity must be found in the center of each individual and corporation. This paper presents integrity as a superior concept amongst the values and virtues which are normally mentioned; it implies that management must adopt the enabling attitudes andabilities they need to carry out their work properly.Ítem Solo Metadatos Persona ética y organización: hacia un nuevo paradigma organizacional(Universidad ESAN. ESAN Ediciones, 2005-12-30) Rodríguez, Alfredo; Aguilera, Juan CarlosIn many corporations, the importance of ethics does not go further than just good intentions. Philosopher Josef Pieper warned about this situation when he wrote about prudence, a virtue that is at the basis of outstanding management and thus, also of company ethics and corporate social responsibility, an issue included in the problem as there are many ways to understand its significance. However, before any consideration on the importance of company–social relationships or on the values and moral actions of organizations, we must bear in mind that the type of corporation depends on the type of individual we represent in our minds. Without an anthropological vision it is not possible to ascertain the actions of people in the corporation or their attitudes towards its goals. Our work will try to contribute a proposal in which the corporation is explained and organized from the point of view of the people.
